The Office: Civil war
How do you balance collaboration and performance?
Ahoy,
Welcome back to another Wednesday leadership training session!
I want to start by thanking everyone that answered the questions on Monday’s newsletter. If you haven’t yet, please do go back and check it out. It’s all aimed at making sure I can deliver you the best content possible.
I do however, want to follow it up with another couple of questions today. Following this, I’ll check the results and run a bit of a debrief on it next week.
As I said on Monday, I really appreciate answering these. Your engagement is what will make this the go-to leadership space on the internet.
Do you feel you would benefit from a Silent Leadership community space? This would be an area you can ask questions to other readers and myself, new content can be shared and an area to share goals and problems with like minded individuals. |
Would you benefit from an online coaching program? This would involve some kind of regular calls involving a teaching phase and a questions phase, either as a 1-on-1 or as a group. If you think it should include something else, I'd love to here your thoughts! |
Lets dive into today’s scenario!

Start learning AI in 2025
Everyone talks about AI, but no one has the time to learn it. So, we found the easiest way to learn AI in as little time as possible: The Rundown AI.
It's a free AI newsletter that keeps you up-to-date on the latest AI news, and teaches you how to apply it in just 5 minutes a day.
Plus, complete the quiz after signing up and they’ll recommend the best AI tools, guides, and courses – tailored to your needs.
Your team has a strong track record of success and consistently meets its goals. Recently, you've noticed a change in behaviour between two of your senior team members. They've stopped working together, rarely communicate, and seem to be competing with each other. While their individual work remains excellent, the team's atmosphere has become tense. Newer team members now avoid asking either of them for help.
How would you restore teamwork without disrupting the strong performance of these senior members?
What changes to your team's way of working could prevent this type of situation in the future?
When is the right time for a leader to step in? What could go wrong if you act too quickly or wait too long?
Thank you again for taking the time to answer these questions it’s a huge help to me!
Also, I hope this week’s scenario gives you some good food for thought and as always, have a great day!
Reece
